The victory in California to serve foie gras has been bittersweet for chefs like Napa Valley’s Ken Frank. Upon being able to serve the delicacy in his restaurant, The Huffington Post reports that Frank and other restaurant owners have received death threats from animal rights activists. Frank states the most striking ones have been to subject him to a similar method as gavage which is used to force feed ducks and geese. Other chefs, like Sean Chaney of Los Angeles, has received threats via email, telephone and social media.

“I’m gonna find you; I’m gonna murder you; I’m gonna find where you sleep and shove a pipe down your throat,” he characterized the threats against him as saying. “If I don’t do it, somebody else will.”

PETA’s Ingrid Newkirk states she is skeptical of the claims of death threats but, not surprisingly, stopped short of condemning them. Again we see that animal rights groups, like PETA, are not about the compassionate treatment of animals but, in reality, are about the animalistic treatment of humans.
