An animal rights activist out of Germany has had charges pressed against her due to remarks she made about a Cologne farmer who was killed after he was attacked by one of his bulls. According to the UK Telegraph, Animal Peace head Silke Ruthenberg lauded the death of the farmer stating that the bull who did so was a hero and the farmer was a slave driver. The farmer and his family’s identity remains undisclosed due to Germany’s privacy laws. But because of Ruthenberg’s denigration of the farmer’s memory, under German law she faces jail time of up to two years including fines.

Other animal rights groups have condemned her statements and, as it turns out, Silke Ruthenberg has been charged with similar incidents before. She does, however, remain remorseless for her remarks. I realize Ruthenberg’s comments do not speak for other animal rights groups, but her statement is consistent with their beliefs. If one subscribes to the idea that animals should have the same rights as humans then the death of someone at the hands of an animal, then praise for the person’s demise is warranted (in their minds).

Silke Ruthenberg is the one of few animal rights activists who is willing to be publicly honest about their beliefs. Simultaneously, I do not cheer someone being jailed or fined for statements they make either, even if they are idiotic. However, Ruthenberg knew exactly what she was doing and has now gained some notoriety on the back of a deceased innocent man due to her revolting, twisted view of animals and their relation to humans. Silke Ruthenberg prefers a species (i.e. animals) that have no sense of morality over the existence of homosapiens that do. It is a preference for the savagery of the animal kingdom over the civilization of man.
