Despite having tried this last year, New York City recently announced that they were abandoning the use of electric snow plows and would use diesel-powered ones instead.
New York did this as part of their effort to convert all of their city vehicles to electric by 2040. New York City uses its garbage trucks as snow plows when needed and Essanews says one of the city’s electric garbage collection trucks was fitted with a snow plow as part of a test to see if it could perform the task. Not surprisingly, the effort failed.
The plow, dragging across the road and the snow buildup in front of it, created substantial resistance. Moreover, the plow required almost constant movement, eliminating the option for loading pauses.
Consequently, the electric vehicle’s power supply was insufficient for the demands of a New York winter, known for its heavy snowfall.
The report also says the stress of having to plow snow resulted in the vehicle having to recharge after 2 hours and the vehicles could only plow snow for a maximum of 3-4 hours at best before they had to recharge their batteries while 12 hours was the amount of time needed.
Another instance of elites being mugged by reality.
