As if rising food prices aren’t enough, a Canadian pizzeria in Toronto, Goodfellas Pizza, is charging its customers a $3 or 2% carbon fee. The Toronto Sun reports the pizzeria’s website says they have decided to buy indulgences … er … carbon offsets to pay for their climate sin of importing many products from Italy. So instead of the restaurant absorbing the cost or finding other ways to get good ingredients, Goodfella’s Pizza forces customers to pay for the restaurant owner’s climate sins.
