A lawsuit filed by Illinois Hyundai car dealerships against the Korean-based automobile manufacturer in a U.S. district court, Reuters says, claims that a covert program encouraged dealers to fraudulently report unsold cars as “sold” to customers or put into loaner service, only to have the sale reversed the next month. This resulted in an increase in sales and, according to Reuters, the suit also alleges that dealers who refused to participate in the electric vehicle scheme were punished.
Not surprising this lawsuit was filed since it was reported late last month that almost half of electric vehicle owners want to go back to gas-powered cars.
