The pop band Maroon 5 released a new video for their song Animals. In the video the group’s lead singer, Adam Levine, plays a crazed butcher who stalks a lovely blonde woman.

According to news reports, the video has stirred such controversy that domestic violence groups have condemned the video as glorifying domestic violence against women. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (aka PETA) have praised it stating it demonstrates the horror animals go through when they are slaughtered for human consumption.

As it turns out, the woman in the video, Behati Prinsloo, was the woman in the video in which she is an opponent of Sea World. She is an open critic of the venue for it’s alleged animal cruelty.

The fact that PETA backs a video laced with such violence should be an indication as to where the group’s loyalties lie. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have supported Animal Liberation Front activities by providing legal representation and fundraising for ALF activists who are arrested and jailed for sabotaging or even bombing laboratories that use animals in medical research making said individuals out to be heroes.

I watched the video and it is pretty bloody in which you see Levine sing among frozen animal carcases and even imagines kissing his intended prey in a variety of situations including as their bodies are drenched in blood. You can watch it here and see for yourself. After reading about this, I would be hesitant to ever listen to or buy a Maroon 5 album even again. The group has sanctioned PETA’s hatred of mankind in the form of attempting to shock or shame people into not using animals for food.
