Last week Greenpeace used Peru’s ancient Nazca site as the venue for a publicity stunt in order to highlight climate change in conjunction with the United Nations climate conference held in Lima. The stunt resulted in extensive damage to the historic site and sparked international outrage with calls for Greenpeace activists to be prosecuted and jailed.
Despite the group’s apologies, Peru is considering extradition of the activists involved in the stunt to stand trial. PBS Newshour released drone footage that details how much damage was done to the World Heritage Site.
