This incident happened during early October but was reported on last week and is almost too unbelievable. According to Jalopnik, an owner of a Tesla X in Hollywood, Florida backed 2 jetskis into the water only for her vehicle to slide in after her vehicle somehow malfunctioned on the boat ramp and then caught fire while submerged and while the owner was locked in the vehicle. This video by firefighter Captain and trainer Patrick Durham gives a very good description of the events that unfolded.

Fortunately, no one was hurt but this was a close call since the wife did not know about the manual release of the doors and her husband was able to get her out. This is another reminder that salt water and car batteries don’t mix in which lots of electric car batteries caught fire after being submerged in sea water when Hurricane Idalia flooded parts of the Sunshine State.
