For a moment there I thought it was because he farted in his pants.

A man has been arrested and charged in San Diego for smuggling greenhouse gases into the United States, marking the first prosecution of its kind in the country, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Southern California announced on Monday.

Michael Hart, a 58-year-old San Diego resident, is accused of bringing hydrofluorocarbons — chemical compounds commonly used for refrigeration and air conditioning — from Mexico to the U.S. and selling them for profit, which violates regulations set in 2020 to slow climate change under the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act. The AIM Act gives the Environmental Protection Agency the authority to reduce production and consumption nationwide of hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs, since they have been identified as one of the most potent greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere and contributing to rising temperatures.

At this point, smuggling HFCs into the U.S. is illegal, and officials are working to phase down new manufacturing of the compounds within the country. More restrictions on the use of certain HFCs will take effect next year, according to the EPA.

Michael Hart gets prosecuted and treated like a dangerous individual while thousands of unscreened illegal aliens get treated with kit gloves. The media will even go so far as to cover up for them if an illegal immigrant murders an American citizen too.

Michael Hart’s only crime was that he tried helping people who needed the refrigerants that are used for air conditioning and refrigerators, because the situation in the Golden State is so bad thanks largely to the state degenerating into a green dystopia. There is no excuse for breaking the law, but in this case it is a matter of survival for California residents who have a hard enough time affording their energy bills, food, and having to put up with rolling blackouts.

There is a huge black market in HFC’s resulting from EPA and California restrictions on hydrofluorocarbons and Michael Hart’s prosecution including further clamp downs on their production and distribution will only make matter worse. This isn’t about fighting climate change, but really about destroying people’s lives.
