The Associated Press‘s Stylebook has been used by media newsrooms to police or censor speech.
The ACES website noted, during their annual conference in San Diego, some of the changes revolved around a number of political correct terms such as referring to overweight people and terms used for homeless people. However, the updated style guide includes a very large section covering climate change, a phrase the AP says can be used interchangeably along with the term climate crisis.
What is also concerning is the AP‘s announcement of relying on Merriam-Webster definitions in case the news outlet’s Stylebook lacks one for a word. In many instances, Merriam-Webster has changed the definitions of words to suit Democrat talking points.
A prime example of Merriam-Webster’s manipulation was when the company quietly updated the definition of the word preference four years ago after Democrats attacked then-Judge Amy Coney Barrett for using the phrase sexual preference when she was being considered by the U.S. Senate to serve on the Supreme Court. A practice Merriam-Webster continues to this day.
So, with all of this in mind along with the AP accepting millions of dollars from leftist nonprofits to report climate alarmist propaganda, the AP‘s joining at the hip with Merriam-Webster makes sense since both entities are involved in the dissemination of leftist group think.
