Major California Solar Energy Company Files Bankruptcy

SunPower Corp., a major, nationwide provider of residential solar panels and helped build the largest solar plant in the country has filed bankruptcy.

Because of SunPower’s demise, it also is a sign that the entire residential solar market is on the verge of extinction.

The rooftop solar industry is teetering on the verge of collapse.

SunPower, one of the largest US solar companies, said it will wind down its residential installation service & stop direct sales.

Unfortunately, the warranties and maintenance that residents who bought SunPower’s products would depend on are all gone. But, they still have to repay the loans they took out to finance it. Fun times.
