The United States has formally informed the United Nations that it intends to leave the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The UN says the U.S. will officially exit the UNFCCC on February 27 2027, since a withdrawal becomes effective one year after the UN receives the notice (in this case, February 27 2026) or on a later date specified in that notice.
