Like someone pointed out: As California goes, so does the rest of the nation.
While California braces for new clean-air policies and an EV mandate that has been challenged, a new report reveals the state is as polluted as ever, with eight cities in the top 25 most-polluted in the nation.
The American Lung Association released their 2026 State of the Air report, revealing both the cleanest and dirtiest cities, in terms of air quality.
Bakersfield, California and the surrounding Delano area has remained the most-polluted, in terms of “year-round particle pollution,” out of 211 American metropolitan areas.
Media outlets, like ABC, are obviously trying to spin this as a way to make the U.S.’s pollution has bad under Trump coupling it with environmental racism or something. However, they intentionally do not reveal California, a deep blue state, as the worst in the nation and, overall, the fats speak for themselves.
According to the American Lung Association report, California cities continue to dominate air quality rankings, with five metro areas appearing in the top ten for year-round particle pollution while also performing poorly on ozone and short-term particle measures. Eight cities from the state overall placed among the nation’s top 25 most polluted urban areas.
Bakersfield and its neighboring Delano region maintained the worst ranking for year-round particle pollution across all 211 U.S. metropolitan areas surveyed. Four additional California metros cracked the top ten for this metric: Fresno-Hanford-Corcoran at fourth place, San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad and Visalia tied for fifth, and Los Angeles-Long Beach at seventh.
The Bay Area also appeared on the year-round particle pollution list, with San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose sharing the thirteenth position. El Centro completed the California representation at rank twenty-one.
This should be another albatross on the left, including environmentalists, and it lays bare the lie that the former truly care about clean natural environments as well. Their efforts are all about trying to asset political control using any and all means to do so. This should also serve as a warning too. We can’t have nice places thanks to the left cannibalizing them and municipalities (like Asheville, North Carolina and California) are prime examples.
