About five years ago outgoing Greenpeace leader Gerd Leipold was interviewed on a British news program named Hardtalk. During his discussion with the show’s host Leipold admitted the group had sensationalized a claim made at that time that Arctic ice would melt by 2030. He admitted during the interview that his group’s press release was a mistake.

Fear is a prime component of the environmentalist methods of not only keeping their issues in the news but also scaring the public into believing that doom is just around the corner if efforts they advocate to preserve nature are not enacted.
