Environmentalists advocate a so-called paleo diet based on alleged natural, organic foods as being the best way to contribute to sustainability and a healthy lifestyle. They even claim that, instead of GMO’s, a plant-based agricultural food system reduces people’s carbon footprint that, in turn, contributes to climate change. That also includes avoiding meat consumption.
This very interesting ReasonTV interview with evolutionary biologist Marlene Zuk who is author of the book Paleofantasy: What Evolution Tells Us About Sex, Diet and How We Live. In her book, Dr. Zuk points out that the paleo diet, philosophy and lifestyle overlook a lot of really cool stuff that’s been happening in evolution. After watching Dr. Zuk’s interview, it would seem that environmentalism isn’t just against human nature but also anti-evolution.
