California Governor Jerry Brown is in hot water with one his constituents. The Huffington Post reports the governor has drawn the ire of environmentalists who are reeling over Brown’s support of hydraulic fracturing (aka fracking). So much so that green groups staged a protest and presented a petition of thousands of signatures to him calling on Brown to halt his support of the drilling method.

So far, the governor has given no indication he will change his mind. A prime reason is a study done by the California Department of Water Conservation that states fracking has been used in The Golden State for 30 years with no reported damage to the environment. The governor has, however, approved regulations that require companies involved in fracking to report their activities to neighboring residents.

My guess is that Governor Brown may also be taking a page from President Obama’s Interior Secretary, Sally Jewell. She recently ridiculed bans on fracking stating they were the wrong way to go and were based on a lack of understanding about the science surrounding the drilling method. I do not approve of many of the policies of Jerry Brown but I salute him for sticking to his guns.

Despite what environmentalists will tell you fracking is not harmful for the environment and the efforts being made against it and even pipelines are an effort by Gang Green to hinder our consumption of fossil fuels. If environmentalists are so concerned about fossil fuel use, I have yet to see any of them completely give up their use. Including for their residential power or travel needs.
