The far-Left online rag Think Progress (ha,ha!) has posted an article literally defending the actions of the protesters at the North Dakota Access Pipeline. The screed asserts that the actions on the part of environmentalists and Standing Rock Indian tribe members were Non-violent resistance tactics and that they used radical and effective techniques.
The article contends that a recent letter sent by four Democrats and 80 Republicans to Attorney General Jeff Sessions on if NDAPL terrorists who sabotaged the pipeline can be charged under federal criminal and terrorists statutes. Think Progress (ha, ha!) alleges the Congressmen are seeking to laying the groundwork using fear mongering in order to suppress free speech and human rights. In reality, his post is nothing more than an attempt to make excuses for violent elements of the Left.
Think Progress (ha, ha!) also attempts to spin a conspiracy Financial influence of oil and gas companies alleged pointing to Republicans located in states that have large petroleum and gas industries and that three of the four Democrats who signed the letter have deep financial ties to fossil fuel companies.
It was the DAPL or Standing Rock protesters who initiated the violence against pipeline company employees. According to the Associated Press:
Morton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Donnell Preskey said four private security guards and two guard dogs were injured after several hundred protesters confronted construction crews at the site just outside the Standing Rock Sioux reservation. One of the security officers was taken to a Bismarck hospital for undisclosed injuries. The two guard dogs were taken to a Bismarck veterinary clinic, Ms. Preskey said.
The Sheriff’s Office’s press release specifies which employees were injured and how they were.
two videos on Facebook you can watch here and here. The first shows the terrorists obstructing the construction project and they were not purposely attacked by security forces with mace as the terrorists alleged. The second shows the terrorists purposely trespassing on the area cordoned off by the pipeline construction crew and defying orders to go back.
The Associated Press also quotes the Morton County Sheriff stating:
Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier said in a statement that “individuals crossed onto private property and accosted private security officers with wooden posts and flagpoles.”
“Any suggestion that today’s event was a peaceful protest, is false,” his statement said.
This tirade makes no distinction between peaceful protests with violent ones and, in a way, conflates the term protest into a kind of package deal. Think Progress (ha, ha!) intentionally ignores violent acts of terrorism on the part of protesters at DAPL (and maybe elsewhere).
Think Progress knowingly makes the DAPL thugs out to be victims and in many ways, the Leftist rag has to. Since the Left knows that the only way to stop human progress is by Leftist activists and their allies conducting acts of terrorism and violence. In order to enable more incidents, like those at Standing Rock, more frequent, excuses must be made for even obvious acts of violence.
