EV Fire In South Dakota Turns Car Into Pile Of Smoldering Purple Debris

The battery of an electric vehicle in Vermillion, South Dakota caught fire last week that resulted in the car becoming a pile of smoldering garbage.

The Vermillion Fire Department was able to put out the fire and the highway where the incident occurred remained closed for about an hour and a half.

Last month, The Washington Post identified Tesla’s lithium-ion technology in its car batteries as especially incendiary in light of their use of specific compounds as being “volatile” and “combustible.” This on top of how much it costs to replace an electric vehicle’s car battery too.
