U.S. District Judge Won’t Block Nevada Lithium Mine

U.S. District Judge and Obama appointee Miranda Due declined a request from environmentalist lawyers to halt the construction of a Nevada lithium mine. Despite this ruling, the Associated Press reports green groups like the Western Water Sheds Project will consider appealing it or use different means to stop the construction, claiming more sustainable options need to be pursued but does not specify what alternatives there are.

General Motors plans to invest millions into the project and, for now. Biden supposedly supports the mine. Judge Du came to her conclusion noting that the Bureau of Land Management ratcheted up it’s environmental impact requirements for the mine as well. Lithium is a component used for making electric vehicle batteries and this is yet another example of environmentalists demonstrating that climate change is about political control and not helping the natural environment.
