During mid-September, vandals with the Last Generation climate cult decided to spray paint Berlin’s infamous Brandenburg Gate as part of a publicity stunt to highlight the issue of climate change (notice the crowd cheered as the triggered cultist was take away by police).
Consequently, the costs associated with the clean-up are higher than originally thought.
Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate will have to be cleaned at greater effort and expense than initially thought after climate activists sprayed orange paint on the German capital’s signature landmark earlier this month, a company that manages official buildings in the city said Thursday.
Members of the Last Generation group used fire extinguishers filled with paint to spray all six columns of the gate on Sept. 17 — the latest in a series of eye-catching actions. It is best known for protests in which activists glue themselves to roads and block traffic, a polarizing tactic.
The group’s priorities include getting Germany to stop using all fossil fuels by 2030 and take short-term measures, including imposing a general speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph) on highways, to cut emissions more quickly.
The cost of cleaning the gate was initially put at about 35,000 euros ($36,900). But the management company, Berliner Immobilienmanagement, made clear that it now expects a bigger and much more expensive effort.
The AP reports because of the water content of the spray paint the vandals used, it has seeped deeper into the sandstone monument that will make removing it not only more difficult, but also more expensive. Removing the paint may have to entail using laser technology that BIM says could elevate costs into the six-digit range but could take several weeks.
The AP says the company will press the claims of damages as part of a civil case. No word if the vandals will be sued or their group. If legally possible under German law, the company should pursue claims against both. Justice demands not only compensation for cleaning up the monument, but also making both parties feel the pinch for what they’ve done.
These climate cultists’ disregard for the monuments and art of civilization reveal their true intent is to tear all of civilization down regardless of the consequences.

If the Germans think that the spray paint stunt was expensive wait until all the Watermelon energy policies are in place.
