For at least the past two weeks, farmers in Germany are protesting an end to diesel fuel subsidies and tax breaks for farm equipment as part of the country’s austerity measures to take place this year. At first the farmer’s complaining had fallen on deaf ears but Germany’s government has made some concessions to allay the farmer’s concerns. No word if the farmers will cancel more organized protests to take place from January 8th to the 15th.

If the austerity measures are not reversed, food prices will go up. Not surprisingly, the U.S. mainstream media has remained silent about this.
