[N]ever give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. – Winston Churchill
A major European Union plan to better protect nature in the 27-nation bloc and fight climate change was indefinitely postponed Monday, underscoring how farmers’ protests sweeping the continent have had a deep influence on politics.
The deadlock on the bill, which could undermine the EU’s global stature on the issue, came less than three months before the European Parliament election in June.
The member states were supposed to give final approval to the biodiversity bill on Monday following months of proceedings through the EU’s institutional maze. But what was supposed to be a mere rubber stamp has now turned into its possible perpetual shelving.
When European governments announced they were going to enact WEF’s Net Zero climate targets enacting new climate rules and conduct campaigns to urge Europeans to eat less meat, it was abundantly clear the party in their sights were farmers and they acted accordingly. The rebellion began in Holland when the Dutch government announced they were going to shut down livestock farms and the success Netherland farmers enjoyed with their revolt was enough to inspire other European farmers to fight back too.
The goal of the E.U. was to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. But, if the Last Glacial Maximum is any indication, if we achieve climate neutrality by reducing carbon emissions so low that all life in Earth will vanish. That is the eventual goal of the climate cult and, for now, their efforts have largely failed thanks to a rag-tag bunch of scrappy farmers who thumbed their noses at and stood up to European elites.
