A well-known California vegan restaurant chain, Sage Regenerative Kitchen & Brewery, announced it would close recently after 14 years resulting from financial difficulties. According to the New York Post, the final blow came when angry vegans began criticizing the company for adding meat to the menu.
Upon the owners revealing during May of last year that their restaurant would change its menu choices to include meat in hopes of attracting new customers, the New York Post says the area vegan community (including PETA) angrily opposed the decision and went so far as to conduct a harassment campaign.
In many ways, this is not only another example of the Left eating their own, it also reveals the claim that the left is somehow tolerant or supports diversity and inclusion is a bald faced lie and anyone who leaves their fold will be mercilessly destroyed. Unfortunately, similar efforts like this are not new and have happened many times in the past.
For example, during 2017, some animal rights cultists conducted a harassment campaign against Calver Bridge’s Bridge Inn restaurant in Derbyshire, England for deciding to serve foie gras. The following year, butchers in France pleaded for police protection resulting from physical, verbal and moral attacks at the hands of vegans and animal rights groups. That same year (2018), some French butcher and fish shops were even vandalized. Five years ago, a butcher in Bristol, England had a number of signs placed outside his shop calling him a murderer, that he should rot in hell, and wishing cancer on his family.
The fact that vegan and other human hate groups resort to violence or intimidation reveals the weakness of their position and veganism is another sect in the environmentalist cult.
Animal rights is ultimately, about the animalistic treatment of humans and the terrorists behind this latest campaign are nothing more than a gang of thuggish prudes who seek to make the existence of humans (except themselves) a living hell on earth. That includes denying people dietary choices not only so humans can live but to have pleasurable dining experiences that involve consuming meat.
