As it turns out, accusing your opponents of being Nazis and fascists has consequences.

The nature of domestic terrorism has undergone a striking reversal this year, new research indicates: For the first time in more than 30 years, left-wing attacks are outnumbering those from the far right.

The reason that left-wing incidents this year have outpaced right-wing incidents is twofold, the researchers said. First, the number of incidents of right-wing terror plummeted this year to levels not seen during the study period. In seeking to explain the drop in right-wing incidents, researchers speculated that, because of the Trump administration policies on immigration and diversity programs, “it is probable that at least some extremists do not feel the need to act violently.”

While the number of right-wing incidents dropped, the researchers said, the number of left-wing incidents rose.

The Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) revealed that while far-right violence has usually been more frequent, had decreased significantly during the first half of this year.

The CSIS collected and examined data on 750 domestic attacks and plots from January 1, 1994, to July 4, 2025. Their analysis showed that since 2016, left-wing extremists carried out over 40 attacks, while right-wing extremists were responsible for 152 attacks during the same timeframe. Additionally, the manuscript points out:

  • Since 2016, left-wing extremists have conducted 41 attacks, while far-right extremists have carried out 152 attacks in the same period.
  • Over the past ten years, left-wing violence has resulted in 13 deaths, significantly fewer than the 112 deaths caused by right-wing attacks and 82 by jihadist attacks.
  • This year, at least five left-wing plots or attacks have been documented, compared to only one right-wing attack.

This study follows the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10, during a student Q&A session at Utah Valley University.

Following Charlie Kirk’s untimely demise, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) disclosed during a press conference that bullet casings recovered from the rifle used by the alleged assassin bore engravings, including the taunt Hey fascist! Catch!

In the wake of Kirk’s murder, Democrats including California Gov. Gavin Newsom have persisted in labeling Trump administration figures, like White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, as fascists.

Contemporary Leftists are cut from the same cloth as the Jacobins who who ruled France with an iron fist shortly after the French Revolution and conducted the infamous Reign of Terror. When one subscribes to a collectivist, utopian ideology (be it Communism or Nazism), violence is a certain outcome since it is opponents or dissidents who stand in the way of the coming heaven on Earth.

Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania summed it up very well:

ADDENDUM 09/29/2025: While the study is revealing, it is also disappointing. CSIS says they left out over 20 attacks on Tesla dealerships, political attacks on specific figures, and all ICE-related attacks. They also completely ignored the transgender issues. In my opinion, it’s absurd to exclude these.
