One hundred ten years ago today Alisa Rosenbaum (aka Ayn Rand) was born in St. Petersburg Russia. She was a novelist, philosopher, playwright, and screenwriter. She is known for her two best-selling novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and for developing a philosophical system she called Objectivism.
In this 1959 interview, Ms. Rand appeared on Mike Wallace’s show Night Beat where she explains her political and philosophical views. Mike Wallace and Ms. Rand like each other almost immediately, and were to remain friends along with visiting each other on a number of occasions throughout the years.
