Aussie Senator seeks to yank Greenpeace non-profit status

Yesterday on Australia Broadcast Corporation’s RN Breakfast show, host Fran Kelly spoke with Queensland, Australia Liberal-National Party Senator Matt Canavan about his effort to revoke Greenpeace’s non-profit tax status.

Canavan says the environmental group is using taxpayers money to fund political actions which repeatedly and blatantly break the law.

The Senator has written to Environment Minister Greg Hunt calling for an investigation of Greenpeace’s political activities and for the group to be removed from the register of environmental organisations that receive tax deductible status.

RN Breakfast was also joined by Greenpeace Political Advisor Jessica Panegyes to respond. You can listen to the show here.
