European Union Classifies Nuclear Power and Natural Gas As “Green Energy”

With Russia’s cutting off petroleum exports to European countries resulting from the Ukraine conflict and with the outbreak of farmer protests in Holland and Italy, the European Union took the bold step of voting to label nuclear power and natural gas as environmentally friendly.

Not surprisingly, environmentalists are furious at the move and Austria has announced they will challenge the new policy in the European Court. What is fascinating is that climate change efforts have resulted in renewed interest in nuclear power with European countries, like Holland and Poland, announcing the construction of new reactors.

However, any celebrations are premature since China and India are more than willing to use fossil fuel sources Europe is backing away from. The events surrounding this move by the EU is worth watching.
