For the past three days Texas and many other states have been experiencing a heat wave. Consequently, the state’s power grid is at risk of being strained. Consequently, the state’s grid operator, ERCOT, is asking Texans to cut their power usage.
The situation in the Lone Star State was serious enough to where Tesla even weighed in urging car owners to avoid charging their vehicles during peak hours. The company is even offering up to 50 percent off for drivers who were willing to wait to charge their vehicles until after 8pm.
Environmentalists, naturally, continued to defend using renewables despite the obvious proof they are the reason for power shortages in places that use them.
