And just like that Deb Haaland ruined the lives of local Navajo tribe members who want to be able to sell oil on their land but can’t now.

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland on Friday ordered a 20-year moratorium on new oil and gas leasing within 10 miles of the Chaco Culture National Historical Park, protecting lands sacred to many Native American communities in New Mexico and northern Arizona.

The move, which still allows drilling near the park on existing federal leases, represents the culmination of a yearslong campaign to preserve ancient sites of cultural importance in the region by tribes, conservation groups and New Mexican politicians.

“Efforts to protect the Chaco landscape have been ongoing for decades, as Tribal communities have raised concerns about the impacts that new development would have on areas of deep cultural connection,” Haaland said in a statement. “Today marks an important step in fulfilling President [Joe] Biden’s commitments to Indian Country, by protecting Chaco Canyon, a sacred place that holds deep meaning for the Indigenous peoples whose ancestors have called this place home since time immemorial.”

As E&E News reports, the local Navajo tribe opposed this ban saying it would destroy their community. But Haaland, who is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna tribe that is located over 100 miles away from the site, ignored their pleadings. The decision Haaland made will forbid Navajo land owners from selling their own oil within a 10 mile buffer zone which, in turn, will destroy the local Navajo tribe since they depend on oil and gas revenues.

Consequently,E&E News also says the local Navajo tribe could see their mineral values devalued resulting from the ban. Hopefully the tribe can somehow sue for some sort of legal relief. Though I am not an attorney, based on my general knowledge of property rights, I would hope that the devaluation of the Navajo tribe member mineral valuations would be a taking requiring compensation as outlined by the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The primary beneficiary of this is Russia but no outcry from the media over this Russian collusion. Meanwhile, Deb Haaland is a leftist destroyer who has a history of corruption that she is schooling her daughter in. It is no surprise Haaland would ignore the outcry from local Navajo tribe members since, like her boss, she is committed to her achievement and sustaining raw power at all costs.
