Kenya’s Ogiek community are a hunter-gatherer community that resides in the southern and western parts of the country in which the Mau Forest is one of the regions the Ogiek has been situated for many generations. Recently, Kenya’s government has taken it upon itself to forcibly evict the Ogieks from the Mau Forest in order to satisfy carbon credit schemes the country has recently bought into.
