Green Township, Michigan residents pushed back against a proposal to give tax breaks to a Chinese-linked company, Gotion, to build an electric vehicle battery plant. According to NewsNation, the plant would have been 100 miles from Camp Grayling, a training facility for the Michigan National Guard and concerns were raised by residents about the potential for the factory to double as a satellite for Chinese spying. Upon the opposition slate’s victory, locksmiths were called in to change locks on the township council’s main offices.
