It could be said that there is a cognitive decline in the brains of politicians, but that’s probably being too kind.
The “neurological burden of climate change is becoming increasingly difficult to avoid,” writes Clayton Page Aldern, a former neuroscientist turned environmental journalist.
Global warming is not only destroying the planet, it is also causing “the spread of brain disease,” contends Aldern, author of the 2024 book The Weight of Nature: How a Changing Climate Changes Our Brains.
“As rising temperatures and shifting weather patterns reshape ecosystems, they’re not just altering landscapes — they’re creating new opportunities for neurological ailments to flourish and spread,” he argues.
One way that climate change causes brain disease is through the “expansion of zoonotic diseases,” he asserts, because as climate change forces animal populations into new territories, “the potential for pathogen spillover grows.”
Ironically, it is the author who is the main source of the anxiety he describes and the very fear-mongering he’s engaging in.
Climate alarmists have analyzed how people emotionally react to climate-related messages on a number of occasions and have intentionally chosen language that provokes the strongest responses as part of their advocacy. However, climate change is not the most important issue on people’s minds now-a-days and a recent effort on the part of climate alarmists to examine people’s reactions to their messaging revealed, overall, the results were mixed.
As Breitbart points out, not only have the media and political leaders used any number of methods at their disposal to heighten the climate panic, but when climate alarmists try to frighten people, especially children, into joining their cause, it’s not surprising that children are experiencing psychological distress. This the result of children’s lack of critical thinking skills to differentiate between facts and exaggeration.
When children are told that the world is ending or that human civilization has just ten years left, they are likely to take these claims at face value.
Climate change isn’t primarily about safeguarding the environment or protecting the planet; rather, it often revolves around political control, with manipulation being one of the tactics employed to achieve these goals.
