Ford Motor Co. plans to reduce its workforce by 4,000 jobs in Europe and the U.K. by the end of 2027, citing challenges such as economic pressures, growing competition, and sluggish sales of electric vehicles (EVs). What is significant is that the company highlights a specific misalignment between Europe’s CO2 regulations and the lack of consumer demand.
European bureaucrats have their heads in the clouds when it comes to their green vision. However, a few pragmatic European leaders and auto industry experts are urgently trying to bring everyone back to reality.
Fortunately, President-Elect Donald Trump plans to eliminate the $7,500 federal tax credit for EV purchases, a move that many analysts believe would greatly impact EV sales and make them less competitive compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. In other words, the automobile market will be restored to being driven by normal market forces and not government mandates and subsidies.
