NOAA hoped to skirt Trump’s DEI Executive Order, so it’s been targeted by Elon Musk’s team … and their doing so has upset climate cultists and social justice warriors.

Democrats on Capitol Hill, and sources familiar with the situation, said the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, has been inside the offices of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. 

The White House DOGE team is a cost-cutting initiative created by President Trump to find ways to trim federal spending. Billionaire Elon Musk is in charge of it, categorized as a “special government employee.” 

Former NOAA officials told CBS News that current employees have been told to expect a 50% reduction in staff and budget cuts of 30%.  

Aside from the fact that the NOAA has promoting human-caused climate change for years, DOGE targeted NOAA like any other agency to ensure they were complying with President Trump’s DEI Executive Order. As it turns out, like USAID, NOAA is littered with DEI practices.

Fortunately, DOGE has eliminated quite a few DEI-related contracts held by government agencies.

Not surprisingly, NOAA’s staff is panicked.

Inside the NWS, there are grave fears of what a potential 5-10% cut of staff could mean for their ability to operate weather radar and provide timely and free forecasts for this year’s hurricane season, a person familiar with the situation told CNN.

“The people of the Weather Service are as fine as you’ll get in terms of getting the mission done, but it would be a pretty substantial cut,” the person said. “People are scared. They’ve never had this type of uncertainty really hang over them.”

It will be interesting to see what insights the young men of DOGE discover regarding discussions and data on global climate and the atmospheric concentrations of vital trace gases.
