This brought to you by Governor Gavin Hair Gel Newsom.

California gas prices have risen “an average of $0.38 per gallon since the event and may increase further” since a Feb. 1 fire shut down the Martinez refinery that produces 10% of the state’s gasoline capacity, according to a new letter from the state’s Division of Petroleum Market Oversight.

The letter also noted the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health did not lift an order to “preserve the incident site” until Feb. 13, before which damage assessment, let alone repairs, could not begin.

The Martinez refinery operator says it has no estimate for how long the refinery will be shut down for repairs, which could impact gas prices across California — which AAA says average $4.85 per gallon — and in the parts of Arizona and Nevada that rely on California for fuel.

Because oil extraction and refineries are a sin according to the environmentalist or Gaia faith, California’s Luddite Democrats are notoriously hostile to oil refineries and, consequently, due to their concerted effort to cut into the profits of California refineries using climate change as their justification. Not only will California drivers will pay more for gas, but Arizona and Nevada drivers will too since both states gets gas and oil from California.

An Indian tribe in Arizona wants to build an oil refinery, which might help alleviate relying on California somewhat, but it has been held up due to regulation and lawsuits. California Luddites, especially Gavin Newsom, are doing everything they can to spread their economic destruction of the Golden State’s economy into other states using taxes and environmental rules as their weapons to do so.
