Prior to being NPR‘s CEO, Katherine Maher was CEO at Wikipedia during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 election. While at Wikipedia, Maher actively conducted herself like a gatekeeper (i.e. censor) related to the coronavirus, the 2020 election and maybe other topics too.
Last year, Maher was reportedly involved in the forcing out of NPR‘s senior editor Uri Berliner due to his authoring an opinion column at The Free Press detailing the liberal bias at the network. Not surprisingly, The New York Times quoted Maher saying she was committed to NPR‘s mission of independent journalism and free speech.
At a recent DOGE subcommittee hearing, Maher was confronted about bias at NPR by committee chair Marjorie Taylor Greene and then by Ohio Representative Jim Jordan. Both Republicans called out Maher not only for her views but also for applying her political ideology to how the network is run, including the content of news stories they cover.
Maher is a vegetarian, she hates cars, and decided to forgo motherhood out of fear that bearing children contributes to climate change. She is a clear example of what leftist ideological indoctrination entails. That includes the censorship, self hatred, and racism that goes along with it. Texas Representative Brandon Gill asked Maher about her controversial views as expressed on her X page.
Both Maher and PBS chief Paula Kerger testified before the House DOGE Committee on Tuesday in an effort to make the case to keep their networks. Now DOGE has decided to target PBS and NPR and it couldn’t have happened a moment too soon.
