While not addressing the issue of birthright citizenship itself, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to restrict or limit lower courts to go beyond relief for individual plaintiffs on cases that, in turn, have been used halt the President’s executive orders.

This doesn’t just apply to birthright citizenship, but to other injunctions that blocked President Trump in other policy matters, such as energy. Trump, rightly, praised the ruling.

Prior to today’s ruling, courts in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Washington state issued nationwide injunctions that prevented many of Trump’s orders from being implemented. In a kind of judicial coup, federal judges tried to assume powers of the President by blocking his orders. Thankfully, it was brought to a grinding halt.
