Earlier this year, the FireAid benefit concert, featuring celebrities and local officials, was held to support victims of the Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes, raising over $100 million. However, a FOX 11 investigation revealed today that none of the funds have reached the actual fire victims.
Instead, FOX 11 reports the money was distributed to various local non-profits, many of which were selected through a dubious screening process, with some having no connection to fire recovery efforts.
Breitbart News looked into some of the organizations and reveals some of the beneficiaries:
One group that has received funding in the California Native Vote Project, a political non-profit that exists to encourage Native Americans to participate in the political process. The FireAid website reports that the cash was intended for “[f]inancial assistance for displaced and affected Native families, expanded healing and mental health services, and distribution of critical health & safety resources.”
The California Native Vote Project is officially nonpartisan, but its political ideology is radical. It boasts of its success in removing statues of Christopher Columbus, and it opposes the enforcement of federal immigration law, standing with the “undocumented” population against Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Another recipient is a group called CalVolunteers — which, Circling the News points out, is a state-run organization. The group is actually run out of the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), and is supposed to be funded by taxpayers.
Then, Breitbart also points out there is “Instituto de Educación Popular del Sur de California” (IDEPSCA) in which a review of their website shows a vague mission statement for them.
To create a more humane and democratic society by responding to the needs and problems of disenfranchised people through leadership development and educational programs based on Popular Education methodology. Specifically our goal is to organize and educate immigrants concerned with solving problems in their own communities.
Funding radical groups including those with questionable or vague intentions doesn’t sound very legitimate. The Justice Department will definitely have to investigate this.
Fortunately, not all of the nonprofits are shady and some are rendering needed assistance to L.A. fire victims. However, as FOX 11‘s report points out, there are many who are not. This is typical of the Left. Money is raised for aid to benefit disaster victims only for Leftist insiders using nonprofits to pocket the money and those whose lives are destitute might see some help, but it will merely be scraps from the table.
Shut up, take the money, and he happy, bigot!
