I am no fan of Oklahoma Republican Senator James Inhofe. However, it is important to actually hear what someone actually says including and especially when it comes to manmade global warming. Senator Inhofe is not alleging a conspiracy. While interviewed by CNN’s Jake Tapper after Congressional mid-term elections this month, Inhofe correctly points out that a number of scientists whom he has talked to disagree with the so-called consensus on human induced global warming. Consequently, they are not able to get their studies or observations included in UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) research.
The IPCC is a political organization that is chartered to establish or find proof that mankind is the cause of global warming. Their charter assumes global warming is real and happening and is the result of human activity. The group is by definition a political advocacy and not a scientific organization. For all practical purposes, the only document that the body produces and gets major press is the summary for policy makers. The policy maker summary is done by a group of government representatives and not by the scientific groups that review the scientific literature. The last couple of iterations were done before the scientific report was issued and then a small group of bureaucrats edited the scientific report to conform to the political summary. As a result, a number of scientists involved with the IPCC resigned in protest.
As to Tapper’s 97% assertion, that was debunked long ago. With all of this in mind, is it any wonder that the majority of US adults could care less about global warming climate change?
