Supporters of a ballot question in Oregon (Proposition 92) that would have mandated manufacturers and suppliers to place labels on food products made with genetically modified foods conceded defeat today. According to The Associated Press, an automatic recount showing the referendum defeated by 812 votes and a court ruling against the supporters’ lawsuit requesting 4,600 ballots that were thrown out be included left the Pro-92 campaign with no choice but to give up. Though they promised to continue their efforts, they did not say if they would try again in two years.

What is concerning though is that the anti-92 campaign spent $12 million dollars but the vote was so close. It can mean supporters of GMO labeling will try again but are keeping quiet about it. The best thing that can happen now is for Congress to step in and outlaw GMO labeling. Labeling of GMO products is another tool environmentalists use to attack our food supply. By labeling bio tech foods it will scare consumers into not buying them since they are lead to believe the government is telling customers GMO foods are not safe. Consequently, people will settle for lower quality products or not buy groceries which affects their long-term health.

Environmentalists may not be entirely successful at halting bio tech foods but their campaigns against pesticides is the other avenue they will use to continue their jihad. Since green groups like the Sierra Club, National Resource Defense Council and PETA are all conducting an assault on mankind on the fronts these groups are focused on, they can afford to lose since they have other ways to continue their holy war. The food supply is a good way to kill humans off since environmentalists consider humans a cancer upon the Earth.
