This video was filmed at a 1981 National Committee for Monetary Reform conference in New Orleans. The text of this lecture is in a collection of her works entitled The Voice of Reason: Essays in Objectivist Thought (1990).

It is Ayn Rand’s last public lecture in which she warns American businessmen for apologizing for capitalism and for, in some cases, directly funding detractors of it. Notably, Ms. Rand states: It is a moral crime to give money to support your own destroyers. After her speech, Ms. Rand takes questions from the audience.

The code of altruism is the creed of sacrifice which is the basis of environmentalism and the motivating factor of groups like PETA, Greenpeace, Sierra Club and Friends of the Earth. Ms. Rand briefly touches on this point during her speech. What is articulated in this lecture is applicable to the average person too. Green philosophy and the groups erected in its name view human beings as a means to an end to be sacrificed on the altar of the goddess nature.
