Stephen Hicks is a Canadian-American philosopher who teaches at Rockford University, where he also directs the Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship.

In 2004 he wrote a book named Explaining Postmodernism: Skepticism and Socialism from Rousseau to Foucault which was e.g. recommended by Jordan Peterson for understanding postmodernism. In this segment of his 1998 lecture Dr. Hicks explains why America’s virtues and institutions are attacked by the Left so often.
