NJ Environmentalists Oppose Meadowlands Power Plant

A Mitsubishi subsidiary seeks to construct a power generating plant in the New Jersey’s Meadowlands that would run on fossil fuels extracted by fracking and would provide power to Manhattan, New York.

According to NJTV, New Jersey’s Governor-elect, Phil Murphy, said during his campaign that he would make it a goal for New Jersey to be powered completely by so-called clean energy power sources. However, when asked about the Meadowlands project, Murphy thought it was odd a power plant would be built in his state that would service Manhattan but ultimately had no opinion on it yet.

Environmentalist organizations such as the Sierra Club and Riverkeeper, not surprisingly, came out against the power plant with some greens (probably funded by the two green groups) protesting the edifice (video below for your viewing disgust). This is another instance of environmentalists preferring people overall live in the dark rather than enjoy the benefits of cheap, affordable energy.
