As of Thursday, the United States has a new federal holiday commemorating the event of Juneteenth when the last slaves in the United States located in Texas were notified they were emancipated. The left is trying to use the occasion to make the case for Black Power or Black Lives Matter, but they’re very wrong.

In light of the slave holding past of Kamala Harris’s ancestor, it is also a very appropriate day since it recognizes Republicans freeing slaves from their Democrat masters. Once this point becomes more widely known, watch celebrations for it go down the memory hole. Until then, remember the Confederates were all Democrats.
