U.N. Panics Over Gay Sex-Monkeypox Link

The United Nations funds the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) which is supposedly a scientific-based government body dedicated to advancing knowledge and conduct investigations about climate change. However, in light of the recent revelations that the spread of the monkeypox being attributed by medical experts to gay sex orgies in Europe, the U.N. panicked, condemning such a diagnosis as being based on homophobic and racist stereotypes. The international body also said, according to The Hill:

“Lessons from the AIDS response show that stigma and blame directed at certain groups of people can rapidly undermine outbreak response,” the group’s statement said.

The U.N. agency added that a “significant portion” of cases reported thus far were “identified among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, with some cases identified through sexual health clinics.”

It urged “media, governments, and communities to respond with a rights-based, evidence-based approach that avoids stigma.”

“Stigma and blame undermine trust and capacity to respond effectively during outbreaks like this one,” UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director Matthew Kavanagh said in the agency’s Sunday statement.

Not surprisingly, the UN’s support of science is only superficial or selective at best. They obviously pulled the AIDS scare out of their bag of tricks possibly in hopes of muddying the waters or to diminish support for the gay sex-monkeypox tie. None the less, even the CDC issued an alert on Monday targeted at gay and bisexual men warning them that, while anyone can get monkeypox, the virus is spreading quickly among the world-wide gay population.

Gay and bisexual men were singled out by the CDC because many of the people infected were from those two demographics, a perfectly reasonable thing to do. In the meantime, the federal health agency is monitoring five potential cases in four states, in which Utah is one of the states affected.

Fortunately, Biden doesn’t seem to have any inclination to conduct COVID-19-style lockdowns or restrictions, correctly stating there have been larger monkeypox outbreaks in the past, the virus does not rise to the level of the seriousness of coronavirus, and there are vaccines to help treat it. None the less, Biden has flip-flopped before, so his recent nay saying should be taken with a grain of salt.
