Despite the multiple shock and awe news stories groups, like billionaire backed Just Stop Oil, vandalizing priceless art or ancient monuments, in the United Kingdom, the group really dedicated to dumping the U.K.’s use of fossil fuels is none other than Great Britain’s Conservative Party.

According to City A.M., despite the approval of new licenses to drill for oil and gas in the North Sea Britain’s Prime Minister tries to play both sides of the fence attempting to present a centrist public face but works behind-the-scenes that essentially appease environmentalists.

Sunak’s response chiefly consists of reviews and rhetoric, with the government still committed to its ban on new petrol and diesel vehicle sales by the end of the decade and the net zero target for 2050 still a safe and shared goal across all major parties.

While [energy security secretary Grant] Shapps likes to present Labour as the political wing of Just Stop Oil, with Labour also not in favour of new licences being approved in the North Sea, no one has done more to jeopardise the UK’s production of black gold than the Conservatives – the party that has actually been in power for the past 13 years.

It is the Conservative government that brought in a windfall tax last year to harness the profits of oil and gas producers, which was then hiked and extended under serving Chancellor Jeremy Hunt to last six years, creating a 75 per cent levy for the North Sea.

Sunak is the one pushing Britain’s Green Agenda in the shadows committed to Net Zero emissions targets and a ban on fossil fuel vehicles in 2050 while environmentalists go batty over minor policies like drilling permits. It’s a racket that will eventually result in Great Britain following Germany’s path of deindustrialization if Britons don’t wise up and start making efforts to somehow push back.
