The organizations say the regulation will put small oil and gas operations out of business.

Several groups have sued over a new Bureau of Land Management leasing rule they argue will harm indigenous communities and put small businesses out of business.

Western Energy Alliance, the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico, New Mexico Oil and Gas Association, North Dakota Petroleum Council, Petroleum Association of Wyoming, and Utah Petroleum Association sued Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland and the BLM in the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming.

The lawsuit challenges a newly proposed BLM Fluid Mineral Leases and Leasing Process rule, which it says is its “first comprehensive update to the Federal onshore oil and gas leasing framework since 1988.”

The rule the groups are litigating against is will ratchet up a number of royalty rates and fees along with adding a enhanced bond requirement, including new restrictions on the use of public lands for oil and gas drilling. Additionally, The Center Square reports citizens of New Mexico and Alaska have said the Biden White House enacted federal regulations without consulting native Indian tribes which could impact tribal member water and electricity.

This is all geared to do what Biden promised while on the campaign trail by promising to end fossil fuels.

If Biden is re-elected, it is likely he will borrow from his former boss, Barack Obama, and work night-and-day to shut the fossil fuel industry down. As a result, more people’s energy bills will spike and people will pay even more at the gas pump.
