Grocery store customers in the Golden State are now prohibited from paying for reusable plastic bags save for meat or produce. Not only does California have more pressing issues (like high crime), but if stores resort to providing paper bags (which is likely) then it means trees will have to be cut down potentially resulting in deforestation. This, in turn, can mean more carbon dioxide since trees absorb CO2.
