No wonder why Mayor Pete could conduct political theater. He didn’t do anything while in office. This brought to light by Trump’s new Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, who revealed on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show that Buttigieg left a backlog of $43 billion worth of projects that even came with green and social justice requirements too.
Duffy’s predecessor told NPR last year that the Biden administration’s DOT allocated $570 billion for over 66,000 infrastructure projects across all states, but cautioned that many of these initiatives could take nearly a decade to finish.
Late last month, Duffy told the Washington Examiner that approximately 3,200 infrastructure projects were announced by the Biden administration without finalized grant agreements, resulting in a backlog for the Transportation Department. Now he has to clean up the mess Buttigieg left behind.
According to Fox News, the DOJ began evaluating the grants and will implement executive grant agreements for significant infrastructure projects. Trump instructed Duffy to eliminate all social justice requirements, a directive Duffy willingly accepted.
