Alarming findings at U.S. and European solar farms revealed hidden Chinese communication devices embedded in critical power equipment, raising urgent concerns about the security of the US’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Reuters reports the kill switches were discovered in inverters, which connect solar energy to the grid. Although remote access is common for updates, experts caution that Chinese backdoors could persist despite firewalls and this is not the first time gadgets like this have been found in products made in the Middle Kingdom.

Hopefully, U.S. and European lawmakers will take swift efforts to bring this to a halt.
